You Will Win

As I further study the book of Ruth, I see how God’s hand preserved her. Despite the loss of her husband, God’s plan included her in the lineage of Jesus. What the enemy meant to destroy her with, God turned around for her.

I know as Christians, it’s difficult to understand why God allows hard times. Why is there loss? What did we do to deserve hardship? There are no straightforward answers to this, but I like to think of it as God “fixing the fight.” Whenever we hear the term “fixed” or “rigged,” we see it in negative connotations. A person or team wins unfairly. They broke rules to put them on top.

We serve a God who makes His own rules and, as His children, He always works things out in our favor. Whatever purpose He has for you, despite obstacles, nothing will stop it from coming to fruition. Yes, we can make poor choices to cause delays. The enemy won’t stop trying to distract or discourage us. Yet God always has the final say.

If you’ve been single longer than you wanted to, I encourage you to keep believing in God. He can’t lie. He’s always true to His Word. If marriage is part of your purpose, it will come to pass. If it’s a genuine desire of your heart, keep praying and believing for it. I think we get tired because of the process.

For some, the process is like the children of Israel. In their case, unbelief kept an entire generation from seeing the Promised Land. Abraham and Sarah brought Ishmael into the world through Hagar. Not in God’s plan. Don’t prolong your season of waiting, trying to rush God. He’s already designed it for you to win.

I was listening to a sermon by Dr. Dharius Daniels and he talked about “long faith.” It’s not that some of us don’t believe, but it’s been so long that we’re tired. We’re weary. The tunnel doesn’t seem to end. The waters are rising. We question, “Why am I even doing this?”

I won’t say I’m an expert. God is still dealing with my heart about a lot of things. I’m always in the tension between my flesh and my spirit. I’ve been weary about a few things for a while now. I almost became apathetic. Even with blessings all around me, because I didn’t get the one, I felt overlooked by God.

Couldn’t He see my efforts? What about my tears? The stress. I keep showing up even when I don’t see immediate results. Then my perspective shifted. I focused less on the situation and more on Him. Listening to Dharius Daniels’ sermon “This Changes Nothing,” I felt worry loosen its grip inside me.

It doesn’t matter what happens. If God has it for me, I’m winning. All things work together for good. If God allows the storm, He’s already preserved me to cross over. As long as He’s in the boat, there’s nothing to fear. Do not quit on God. You will win!
