Embracing Stewardship in Singleness
In our recent Table Talk, we dove into a unique topic: stewardship. What does it mean to be a good steward? It’s all about managing well what God has blessed us with. This isn’t just about money; it extends to relationships, possessions, and really, everything in our lives. Remember, as Psalm 24 says, “The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein” (NKJV). This doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy or have things for ourselves, but our approach shouldn’t be self-centered.
God’s blessings are a gift, and how we handle them is our way of saying thank you—or, unfortunately, showing recklessness. So, what’s our strategy here? We need to realize that everything ultimately belongs to Him, and it’s our job to take care of what we’re entrusted with. Think about it like a rental car versus your own car. With a rental, there are certain rules and care because it’s not yours. We can apply this principle to everything God gives us.
For instance, when we receive our paycheck, are we mindlessly spending, or are we setting aside God’s tithe? Are we contributing to a ministry, charity, or helping someone God places on our heart? And what about our personal lives? If we’re hoping for marriage, how are we managing our singleness? Are we growing personally and spiritually to be better for our future spouse?
This even extends to our spiritual gifts. Are we using them for God’s glory, or are we letting fear and comparison sideline us? Again, this isn’t about living in lack—that’s the other extreme—but it’s about not living selfishly. Through how we live our lives, God can make a significant impact.
So, surrendering to Him, whether on a large or small platform, are we proving ourselves faithful? I encourage you to search your heart and ask God to help you become a better steward of His blessings. It’s a journey and with God’s guidance, you can thrive in your singleness and make the most of this season.
