Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing (Part 1)

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing #1 They Put God First – Matthew 6:33 says “Seek First The Kingdom Of God”. If you are relying on someone else to fill the parts of you that only God can fill, you will be sadly disappointed in a relationship.

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing #2 Pray Over You And For You – Philippians 4:6-7 says “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” We need to give everything over to prayer believing that God knows us better than we know ourselves.

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing #3 They Live A Life Of Fruit – Matthew 7:15-20 says “beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.” We can spot great people by the fruits of the spirit, this will also help you identify if someone is truly walking in the spirit. Do they have Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control?

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing #4 They Are Clear In Their Intentions And Honour You– ‘1 Peter 2:17 Honor all men; love the brotherhood, fear God, honor the king.

You cannot be leading someone on or not clear in your intentions and still be honouring them. Make it known that you leave people better than you found them regardless of the outcome of a scenario.

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing #5 Respect You When You Aren’t Around – Ephesians 4:29; “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”

How are their actions regarding you when you aren’t around? Do they take highly of you, speaking life into what you are doing and who you are?

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing #6 You Are Both Running The Same Race. There is alignment in the direction you are headed. 2 Corinthians 6:14- Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

It’s going to be truly hard to make an impact if you two are walking in different directions.

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing #7 They Talk The Talk And Also Walk The Walk – James 2:20 ‘faith without works is dead’ are they saying all the right things, but falling short in their actions?

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing #8 They Overflow With Wisdom– Proverbs 13:20 “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.”

Are you learning from them? Are they making you a better person?

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing #9 They Are Apart Of Healthy Community + others speak highly of them. Proverbs 18:25 “One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

Community is so important and we weren’t created to do life alone. Of course there will be seasons where we are seeking this but haven’t found it yet, but are they wanting community and to be surrounded by great people or are they trying to isolate themselves?

Biblical Ways To Know Someone Is Worth Pursuing #10 They Love People John 13:34 says to “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

You cannot love God and hate people – it doesn’t work. God is LOVE!

Tune in next week for part 2.
