Did God Leave Me Out Part II

The Levites and the Singles (part 2)

I am mind blown! If you thought God left behind the Levite tribe in Joshua 13:33, you thought wrong. Check out these verses in Joshua 21:1-3, 41-45 (ESV).“Then the heads of the fathers’ houses of the Levites came to Eleazar the priest and to Joshua the son of Nun and to the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the people of Israel. And they said to them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, ‘The Lord commanded through Moses that we be given cities to dwell in, along with their pasturelands for our livestock.’ So by command of the Lord the people of Israel gave to the Levites the following cities and pasturelands out of their inheritance… The cities of the Levites in the midst of the possession of the people of Israel were in all forty-eight cities with their pasturelands. These cities each had its pasturelands around it. So it was with all these cities.

Thus the Lord gave to Israel all the land that he swore to give to their fathers. And they took possession of it, and they settled there. And the Lord gave them rest on every side just as he had sworn to their fathers. Not one of all their enemies had withstood them, for the Lord had given all their enemies into their hands. Not one word of all the good promises that the Lord had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.”So God didn’t leave this tribe behind. They received their promise from Him. He came through as only He can! God knew what they needed, even if it didn’t look like what they wanted. Did you see that? Forty-eight cities with their pasturelands! The remaining tribes of Israel gave to the Levites. How does this relate to singles again? If you read my first post on “The Levites and the Singles,” you saw how God had me correlate this to men and women who feel shortchanged. Desiring marriage and family, but it hasn’t happened yet. As you know, the Levites didn’t receive the same allotted land as the remaining tribes, but as you can see in the verses above, He provided for them! It just looked different.”

Does this sound familiar? Is God blessing you, but it looks different? Outside of your usual type? Outside of your culture, age bracket, or comfort zone? There’s not much I can add here since the Word speaks for itself.I will add this one final thought. If you feel as if you’re in a Joshua 13:33 experience, thinking God passed over your heart’s desires, just know chapter 21 is coming! God cares. He is the author of your story, so let Him write it. Surrender the pen. There’s a big finish coming just for you!
