Did God Leave Me Out

The Levites were the only tribe that didn’t receive an allotted piece of land when Israel entered the Promised Land. I wonder how they must have felt. Did they think, “Wait, God left us out, right? Why does everyone else get something but us?” Joshua 13:14 (ESV) says, “To the tribe of Levi alone Moses gave no inheritance. The offerings by fire to the Lord God of Israel are their inheritance, as he said to him.” Then later in verse 33 (ESV) it says, “But to the tribe of Levi Moses gave no inheritance; the Lord God of Israel is their inheritance, just as he said to them.”

Over the years as a single woman I wondered, “Did God leave me out?” I soon discovered, “of course not. God just has something different for me. Trust His plan.” As I pondered these verses, it’s amazing how Holy Spirit paralleled it in my mind for those walking in singleness, thinking, “Has God left me out?” Remember, the Levites were the priestly tribe. God set them apart to intercede for the entire nation! He was their inheritance and He provided everything they needed.

Is it possible God has set us apart for something great? Something more than what we could imagine? Even if marriage is in the cards later on, I’ll commit to finishing the season I’m in. However God leads, I want to follow. He’s set me apart. He’s my inheritance. He is more than enough.
